Retinoids, Topical Steroids, and Alpha Hydroxy Acids Help

Elsewhere on Stretchmarks.org you may have read that topical steroid creams have been used to induce stretch marks artificially on otherwise normal skin. So given that the notion of then applying topical steroids to prevent and treat stretch marks seems strange. However, since stretch marks are caused by inflammation in the skin, steroid creams can be used to reduce this inflammation, and alpha-hydroxy acids and retinoids can then be used to negate the negative effects of the steroid creams. Therefore we combine the products and reduce the occurrence of stretch marks while there are still forming.
