Sometimes, stretch marks can feel like a secret you’re desperately trying to keep from the world. You pick clothes specifically because they’ll hide your stretch marks and pretend to dislike swimming so you don’t have to be seen in a bathing suit. However, stretch marks are extremely common, and more and more women nowadays are putting their stretch marks out there for the world to see in order to give other women with stretch marks more self-confidence.
These seven gorgeous celebrities have admitting to having stretch marks to let other women know they’re not alone:
Supermodel Chrissy Tegen had a baby in April of 2016. Four months later, she shared a photo on Snapchat of stretch marks on her thighs with the comment “My thighs have tributaries.”
Former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland admitted to Allure in August of 2016 that she developed stretch marks while pregnant with her son Titan Jewel. Roland jokes “If you don’t have stretch marks and cellulite after you had a baby, I really don’t like you. It’s just not fair.”
While it’s hard to imagine Jessica Alba having self-confidence issues about anything, she complained to Women’s Health magazine in 2013: “I have cellulite and stretch marks—and I have a muffin top!”
In 2013, an unedited photo of Cindy Crawford was leaked on Twitter from a photoshoot she did for Marie Claire. The photo shows Crawford posing in lingerie with stretch marks visible on her stomach.
In 2015, singer Lady Gaga posted a selfie to Instagram showing stretch marks on her breasts. Fans commended her bravery with comments like “No retouch, well, you’re perfect my queen.”
Actress Kate Winslet bared her stretch marks to the world in her 2009 film Little Children. Later, Winslet told The Telegraph “It was important for me to just be a real person and be in the position where I can stand up and say, ‘Hey, look, I’m normal. I have these stretch marks. I’m not perfect.’ The notion that women in films are perfect and beautiful and have some kind of secret beauty that nobody else has is just so ridiculous to me, because we’re all normal.”
In 2014, Kim Kardashian discussed stretch marks on her breasts with a cosmetic surgeon on her show Keeping Up with the Kardashians and ended up undergoing laser treatment to have the stretch marks removed.
Stretch Mark Treatment
While these celebrity confessions show that you don’t need to be ashamed of your stretch marks, you don’t have to live with them. Like Kim Kardashian, you can have your stretch marks treated. While laser treatment is one way to get rid of stretch marks, it’s expensive. Instead, you may want to consider treating your stretch marks with a stretch mark removal product. These products are cost-effective and available over the counter and may help to reduce the appearance of your stretch marks.
